MicrocosmWorks built a streamlined tutor onboarding flow using React Hook Form with Zod validation that collects qualifications, subject expertise, availability preferences, and pricing in a multi-step form. The Supabase backend stores tutor profiles with searchable tags, and an admin review queue allows platform operators to verify credentials before tutors appear in student search results.
MicrocosmWorks built Prime Tutor with React and TypeScript on Vite for the frontend, Supabase for the backend (PostgreSQL database, authentication, real-time subscriptions, and Edge Functions), and TailwindCSS for styling. Supabase was chosen for its built-in real-time capabilities, row-level security for multi-role access control, and Edge Functions that reduce cold-start latency, keeping the total infrastructure cost low for a startup-stage product.
MicrocosmWorks designed Prime Tutor's data model to accommodate both one-on-one and group session types. The Supabase schema supports session capacity limits, waitlists, and group pricing tiers. Extending to course-based learning with scheduled lesson sequences is architecturally straightforward, and MicrocosmWorks can add this capability in 4-6 sprint cycles at development rates of $15-$30/hr.
